Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Colm Feore, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. The plot of the movie is the powerful, but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live among humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders. I have not liked many of the Marvel movies so I was not looking forward to watching this. This is a fun movie for the most part. Chris Hemsworth is excellent as Thor. He is really likable, really charismatic and he is great in the action scenes. The rest of the cast they are all really good. The special effects for this movie were very good, but there were a few times particularly when Thor was flying that I thought those moments could have been worked on a little more. Everything that takes place on Asgard I thought was very entertaining. Antony Hopkins is great as Odin. Tom Hiddleston is fantastic as Loki and it’s fun to watch Thor and Loki interact. The stuff that takes place on Earth is mixed for me. Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster isn’t that memorable of a character, but I thought she was likable and had good chemistry with Thor. The other human Thor meets is Darcy played by Kat Denning and I thought was very irritating. Every time she is on screen she either never shuts up or is making lame jokes. The action scenes are entertaining, but none of them stand out. The movie was directed by Kenneth Branagh who when this came out in 2011 had never directed a movie like this. He did a good job directing this, but there are several moments when the camera is leaning to the left and it is very distracting. 3 out of 5 stars for Thor. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
