Call Me By Your Name is directed by Luca Guadagnino and stars Armie Hammer, Timothee Chalamet, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Esther Garrel, and Victoire Du Bois. The plot of the movie is in Northern Italy in 1983, seventeen-year-old Elio begins a relationship with visiting Oliver, his father’s research assistant, with whom he bonds over his emerging sexuality, their Jewish heritage, and the beguiling Italian landscape. This film has been at many film festivals it is being nominated for a lot of awards and I can see why, but this movie bored the hell out of me. The film looks very good Italy looks beautiful. I think the two lead actors do a wonderful job. This film is so fucking slow I almost fell out of my chair from boredom. I didn’t care about any of these characters. I didn’t care about the relationship between Elio and Oliver. I can see why this is getting awards buzz, but it just wasn’t for me. 1 out of 5 stars for Call Me By Your Name. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
