Mission: Impossible 2 is directed by John Woo and stars Tom Cruise, Dougray Scott, Thandie Newton, Richard Roxburgh, John Polson, Brendan Gleeson, Rade Serbedzjia and Ving Rhames. The plot of the movie is IMF Agent Ethan Hunt is sent to Sydney, to find and destroy a genetically modified disease called “Chimera”. This is considered by many to be a terrible movie, I disagree I enjoyed this film a lot. Tom Cruise has said that he wanted a different director for each film in the series. That is a bit of an issue with this film. The first hour of the movie while I enjoyed it there are pacing problems, thankful it never gets to the point where the movie becomes boring and the second hour I fell more than makes up for it. This is a gorgeously shot movie there is tons of great cinematography, there is a lot of really good action and it’s all filmed and choreographed very well. Ethan Hunt is still a likable character and Tom Cruise does a fantastic job in this role. Ving Rhames returns as the character Luther Strickell he was one of my favorite parts of the first movie. He was so funny and likable yet he was also a computer nerd. In this film, they removed almost all of his humor which was disappointing, but I still enjoyed the character. The first action scene doesn’t happen until about an hour into the film. I do think they should have had some action in that first hour because like I mentioned before it does drag a little. Once Ethan Hunt breaks into the bio site facility to destroy the remains of this virus the movie becomes very exciting and there is a lot of tension. 4 out of 5 stars for Mission: Impossible 2. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
