Welcome to Marwen is directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Meritt Wever, Janelle Monae, Elza Gonzalez, Gwendoline Christie, and Neil Jackson. The plot of the movie is a victim of a brutal attack finds a unique and beautiful therapeutic outlet to help him through his recovery process. I didn’t like this movie that much all the acting in this movie is great, but the standouts are Steve Carell and Leslie Mann. I also really liked the animation in the doll world. I was much more invested in that stuff than with the real people. The movie does have some pretty good humor in it. The movie feels very unfocused there are a couple of subplots that don’t really go anywhere. They have a subplot with Leslie Mann’s ex-boyfriend that just gets totally abandon. I also found the constant changing from the doll world to real world distracting and that was probably because I wasn’t that interested in the real world stuff. This movie also feels like it is telling you how to feel rather than earning an emotional response. Robert Zemeckis puts in references to some of his other movies and all I could think about was how those were better movies. It’s not like Ready Player One where pop-culture references are a huge part of the story and feel organic here it’s just remember this other movie I made. 2 out of 5 stars for Welcome to Marwen. I hope you enjoyed my review and I hope it helped you decide whether to see the movie or not.
